The Architect’s Shoe Workshop

What can objects tell us about cultures, whether contemporary or historical? How do objects experienced haptically (in touch with the body) communicate differently than ideas, theories, and objects simply remembered? Dr. Leslie Korrick of the Department of Visual Art and Art History will take on aspects of these questions in two workshop talks on 16th ofJanuary and 6th of February—with objects for your consideration in hand!

For The Architect’s Shoe, she will begin with Iraqi-born, London-based architect Zaha Hadid’s shoe designs of 2008 and 2009 for the Brazilian eco-friendly shoe company melissa and the French luxury designer Lacoste to explore a network of overlapping themes including gender, architecture, fashion, private and public space, and technologies of representation.
